LEED Projects

Our firm is deeply involved in sustainable design and the LEED program offered by the US Green Building Council.

The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high-performance green buildings. LEED gives building owners and operators the tools they need to have an immediate and measurable impact on their buildings’ sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality.

Robert Thompson is a LEED accredited professional, receiving the accreditation in 2005. Armed with this education, we have designed the first LEED-certified office building in Birmingham, the office building for Brasfield and Gorrie. This building is highly energy efficient, re-circulates rainwater as irrigation for the landscaping, incorporates a high level of recycled materials, and affords everyone in the building a view outside and natural daylighting.

Our commitment to sustainable design is continuing in current and future projects.
